From Dr. Richard Bews, the maker of the incredible LFD Amplifiers

LFD DAC 5 SE 2017 version!

The standard DAC5 and DAC5(se) differ in PSU capacitors under the PSU PCB (SE uses elna tonerex and polycarbonate film capacitors). The major sonic difference is the output wiring now used in the SE version, where the earth wire is large solid core copper in parallel with PC-OCC multistrand conductor and hot conductor uses a solid silver ribbon in parallel with a different PC-OCC multistrand conductor. Output wiring in standard  model of the DAC5 is copper solid core for earth and PC-OCC multistrand for hot conductor.

Why am I not surprised at just how good this DAC is? Well, because every design from Dr. Bews is extraordinary.

Any of you who have heard any of the LFD amplifiers knows that LFD builds the very best sounding amps you can get. The LFD DAC is no different.
It is the best DAC that I have heard and it is less expensive than many others.

Based on the Burr Brown 1798 DAC and CS 8416 Input Receiver chips, it can support up to 24-bit/192kHz PCM audio via SPDIF.

Digital inputs:

Toslink
SPDIF (RCA)
BNC and AES/EBU (Balanced XLR)

Outputs:

A pair of single ended RCA analogue outputs.

Computer audio:

If computer audio via USB is used, then a USB to SPDIF converter will be required. USB needs to be asynchronous.
